Our drop-in centre Lifeline opened in 2003. Fifteen years on and, together with our amazing team of staff and volunteers, we continue to provide a home away from home for roughly 30 visitors a day, five days a week.

The Lifeline Centre is the only one of its kind in Bath; offering anyone who steps through the front door a welcoming and non-judgmental space, food, clothing, computers, and the intensive support needed to rebuild their lives. Our visitors range from people who are street homeless, to the ‘hidden homeless’ population – those living in temporary accommodation, hostels, or on friend’s sofas.
“Even people who have a home visit us. They are suffering with debt related issues, substance misuse or loneliness. In this sense, we provide a community centre for people who need community.”
Thanks to the generous support we have received from donors we have been able to expand our services this year with a hot shower and wash facilities.
When Tom first came to Lifeline as a client he says everything was out of control. He was living in a night shelter and suffering with severe depression and anxiety. Visiting us each day equipped him with the practical tools needed to move on in his life. Today, 10 years on and re-housed, he has been helping others in similar situations and making a big difference at our projects.
“Engaging with Genesis gives me a sense of progress – I love giving back. If I wasn’t volunteering now I’d be back at square one. There is still such an urgent need out there. Genesis is the hub; it’s a centre point for all the people who are struggling in Bath.”
We are in need of extra resources at Lifeline. If you have any clothing to donate – men’s jeans, t-shirts, boxer shorts and socks, or women’s jeans, t-shirts, shoes – please bring to the Friends Meeting House, York St, weekdays 1.30 – 3.30pm.
