Olympic Gold medallist Amy Williams will be taking part in the Leap of Faith! abseil this weekend off Bath Abbey tower. She will join acting Rector Stephen Girling, an Abbey Tower Team, Genesis Trust staff and volunteers, representatives from Bath schools, business, the council and local residents. With a target of £20,000 to raise, all those involved will make a big difference to the lives of homeless and vulnerable people in the city, as well as funding sustainable renovations to Bath Abbey.

“It’s not every day that you get to abseil down your local Abbey, so I can’t wait to try this challenge whilst raising money for such good causes.” said Amy.

Stephen Girling, Acting Rector of Bath Abbey, will be the  first to abseil on Friday morning. “We’re really looking forward to this event and having the opportunity to raise vital funds for both Footprint and Genesis Trust. Part of the Abbey’s mission is to support the work of Genesis in the city so this is a fantastic opportunity for us to work together.”

Caleb Mallard, Lifeline Centre Manager said: “We are really excited about taking part as a team. Thank you to everyone doing the abseil and to those supporting and sponsoring. We can each use our different strengths to help people locally who are struggling with housing, poverty, mental and physical health problems.”

The first abseil will take place at 10am on Friday 6 July and will continue all day Friday and Saturday.
