Christmas Compassion is Action

Winter is a particularly tough time for the homeless and vulnerable, and with Christmas round the corner it is often hard to remember those who need our help most when we are so full on. This month we would like to say a huge thank you to all our local fundraisers and student supporters who despite the busy season still found time to brave the cold, rally the crowds and raise money to help people who are struggling with poverty and homelessness

Bath University student Eluned put on a tasty bake sale, and Esther, Rachel and friends organised a sleep out on campus. Two groups created a student-style Soup Run and set up a craft market selling Life Skills art work. In total, their efforts raised over £1000.

This year Genesis was chosen as one of four university RAG (Raising and Giving) charities so students have been busy collecting in town, holding a firework night and raising not only funds, but awareness about our work. Bath College students have even been getting messy painting the walls at our daily drop-in centre, Lifeline.

Off campus, Limelight Bath has kindly crafted gorgeous Genesis-style candles which we are selling this Christmas to raise funds for all our projects. Monkton Combe Pre- Prep and Prep School’s Junior Choir have even created a Christmas charity single for us!

We really couldn’t do our work without all this help and have been truly blown away by the amount of people involved, and the creativity of their fundraising ideas. On behalf of everyone at Genesis and our beneficiaries, thank you!
