This month at Life Skills we have been preparing for our very exciting Guildhall Art Exhibition which kicks off on 31st January and runs until the 5th March. A group visit to the Victoria Art Gallery gave our resident artists plenty of inspiration. The exhibition will be based in the reception area outside Chairman Cherry Beath’s office and will feature a mix of artwork reflecting the diversity of our classes, and the creativity of our participants. You will be able to purchase some of the collection, which will include lino prints from our Life Skills artwork group, photography from our Park Life project, and snippets of creative writing. Not to be missed!
On the 8th February we are also delighted to be attending this year’s Chair of Bath Awards. Our very own Sunday Centre volunteer Lesley has been chosen as a finalist for the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ nomination. Lesley has made a huge contribution to the Sunday Centre ever since it began in 1993. Providing a hot Sunday lunch, Lesley and the other volunteers welcome homeless and vulnerable adults in Bath into a warm and safe space at a time when most other services are shut. Approximately 40 people have lunch each week at the Sunday Centre, and sometimes it is their first point of contact with Genesis Trust, and therefore a vital opportunity to introduce visitors to our other projects.
We are really pleased that Lesley has made it through to the finalist stage, as she is truly an unsung hero in the running of the Sunday Centre.
