“We are delighted to be supporting the Genesis Trust – a local, well established charity. Soup is full of flavour and very nutritious, it’s also a pleasure to make, eat and share. We urge people in Bath to get behind this campaign and have some fun holding soup parties this November.”
All you need to do is make your favourite soup and invite friends, colleagues or family to get together and share it with you and ask them in return to make a donation to Genesis Trust. You can download our invites and a poster to put up at your church or office. Our 3 chefs have devised lovely recipes to help you. If you like your food foraged then check out Rachel’s Vegetarian Nettle soup!, If it’s warming autumnal fayre then Chris’s Parsnip and Chestnut soup is perfect, or if it’s comfort food you crave then Rob has created a hearty Chicken, Leek and Potato soup.
It’s up to you how much you charge for the soup you serve – you could just ask people for a donation or set a fixed price. When you’ve collected the money you can either send us a cheque or donate online via Virgin Money Giving. We are also keen for people to send us their recipes as we have weekly prizes for the best one sent in. Prizes include a Cuisinart soup maker, Tea for Two at the Abbey Hotel and 3 lovely soup cookbooks. Email your recipes to firstname.lastname@example.org .
The inspiration for Souper November comes from our longest running project: the nightly Soup Run. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year it’s operated by 340 volunteers from fifteen Bath churches. Every night of the year (even Christmas Day) soup, sandwiches and hot drinks are served to at least 30 people in the car park next to the Hilton Hotel on Walcot Street. Last year we served 11,800 portions of soup.
If you’re not a fan of making soup you can still support us by visiting local farm shops and restaurants who are donating a share of their soup profits to us during November.
You can send a cheque made payable to “Genesis Trust”.
