Journey of Hope Christmas Appeal

Please join us on a journey of hope to support more homeless and vulnerable people like Michael. Genesis Trust is able to offer longer-term, flexible and holistic support, walking alongside local people as they journey toward a better future.  Read Michael’s story.

Want to give a gift?  

Each Christmas we love to be able to give Christmas presents to our clients.  We give toy shop vouchers and festive food to families using our foodbank.  We give toiletries, warm items of clothing and edible treats to our Genesis Life Project clients and people who are homeless.  The Genesis staff enjoy taking care and time to personalise gifts as well for each client. Often this is the only gift that a person will receive for Christmas. 

There are two ways you can give a gift: 

1. Donations to our CHRISTMAS GIFTS APPEAL will enable us to buy gifts and toy vouchers for the people that we work with.  PLEASE DONATE HERE
2. We would welcome donations of the items below for CARE PACKAGES: 

• Rechargeable torches
• Sleeping bags
• Roll mats
• 1-2 Person Tents
• New batteries, sizes AA and AAA
• Men’s clothing like jeans or outdoor trousers
• Outdoor/Waterproof clothing 
• Thermos flasks
• Mobile phones (factory reset)
• Portable phone chargers
• Tablets (factory reset)
• Rucksacks 25 to 90 litre capacity
• Travel mugs – non leaking
• Hats
• Winter coats
• Thermal underwear
• Boots, hardwearing shoes & trainers
• Gloves
•  Toiletries:
  • Shampoo and shower gel (standard size)
  • Tooth brushes and tooth paste
  • Razors and shaving cream
  • Lip balm, moisturising creams
  • Hair brushes, combs and hair bands.

Donations can be dropped off to our Gateway Centre on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 9:30am – 4:30pm BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please call 01225 439385 to let the team know when you will be coming.

Want to buy Christmas Cards or our Calendar?

Another way to support us this Christmas is by purchasing our line of lovely Genesis Trust Christmas cards which are now available to order as well as our 2024 calendar which features stunning photographs of Bath.

The Cards and Calendars can be purchased through our online Gift Shop and are at the card shop in St Michael’s Without Church until Christmas Eve.

Alternatively, you’re welcome to email events@genesistrust.org.uk with your orders and we can contact you about collecting some cards or calendars from our warehouse in Oldfield Park.

What to shop at a Christmas Fair?

The Genesis team will also be at many Christmas Fairs and at the Bath Christmas Market where we will have the whole range of cards, the calendar, candles, coffee cups and crafts, handmade by guests, volunteers, and staff. You can see all the events we will be at on our Community Events page.

Want to give food?   

If you would like to donate food to Bath Foodbank, please do this by buying in store and putting the items in one of the collection points. You can see the store locations HERE.

You can also download the BanktheFood app onto your phone or your computer and get regular updates of the items we need most.  Just register and then choose Bath Foodbank.

If you have a larger donation of food, please MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to drop it off to our collection point at 31a West Avenue BA2 3QB.  Please email office@genesistrust.org.uk to reserve your time slot.  Our drop off day and times are:

• TUESDAY – 9:00am-4:00pm
• WEDNESDAY – 9:00am-4:00pm
• THURSDAY – 9:00am-4:00pm

Please be aware that all donations of food to be given out in time for Christmas need to be received by 11th December so that our warehouse team can sort the food and get it out to those who need it. 

Reverse Advent Calendar

Many people like to support us by organising a Reverse Advent Calendar collection for Bath Foodbank. Each day of Advent the item on the calendar is added to the collection. Every day is something that we really need for our emergency parcels whether it is a food, household item or toiletries. These we will then provide to people throughout the year so there is no rush to get them to us before Christmas. After the holidays the collection can then be brought to our warehouse, or we can arrange a collection from you. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE ADVENT CALENDAR. Want to donate other ways?

• Nectar Donate
  • You can donate all or a portion of your Nectar Points to Genesis Trust. If you haven’t used your Nectar card for a long time, why not dust it off now, check your account balance and donate those points to us and we can use them to help someone in need this Christmas.  Click HERE to get directions on how to do this.
• Shop using online selling sites
  • You can do your normal Christmas shopping using platforms like EasyFundraising, Give as You Live and others.  They will donate to Genesis Trust at no extra cost to you. You can read more HERE.
