Christmas Guide

This page outlines everything you need to know about Christmas at Genesis Trust this year! Please read through the information below and if you still can’t find the answer to your question send us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!

Want to give time?

Our projects are operating in a COVID-secure way, which means we have to limit the number of people in our buildings at any one time.  This means that we can have fewer volunteers on shift and do not need any additional volunteers over the Christmas period. Thank you anyway for your interest – when we have new volunteer opportunities they will be displayed on our website: http://genesistrust.org.uk/about/latest-vacancies/

None of our projects are open on Christmas day.

Want to give a gift?

Each Christmas we receive donated items from local individuals, businesses and schools so that we can give Christmas gifts to our clients.  We give toys to families using our foodbank, we give toiletries, warm items of clothing and edible treats to those who are sleeping rough and activity based packs to our clients who are socially isolated and/or struggling with mental ill-health.  Often this is the only gift that a person will receive for Christmas.

Sadly, the current pandemic means we can’t safely collect or receive your donated items this year but we still want to give around 220 presents to bring a little Christmas joy to our clients.  We are able to make this happen in 2020 but purchasing the gifts ourselves is the safest way for us to do this.  We are now welcoming monetary donations from our generous supporters to enable us to buy and then deliver these gifts.

You can give a present here: https://localgiving.org/appeal/GenesisChristmasGifts/

Please leave us a message in the comments box if your donation is for a Foodbank gift or for a Lifeline and Life Skills client.

Thank you for your kindness in helping to make someone’s Christmas this year.

Want to give food?

We will not be able to arrange to pick up collections of food over the Christmas period. If you would like to donate food to Bath Foodbank, please do this by buying in store and putting the item in one of the collection points. You can see where these are located here: https://bath.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-food/

If you do have a larger donation of food, please MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to drop it off to our collection point at West Avenue on a TUESDAY MORNING. Please email office@genesistrust.org.uk to reserve your time slot.

Want to donate other items?

At Lifeline, we help to provide practical support for people in crisis. We are currently most in need of the following items:

  • Sleeping bags
  • Blankets
  • Warm men’s clothing and boots

Donations can be dropped off to our collection point at West Avenue on Tuesday mornings BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please email office@genesistrust.org.uk to reserve your time slot.
