Ways you can help this winter

Want to financially support our work with homeless and vulnerable people?

The Genesis Trust exists to offer immediate practical help to people who are homeless and vulnerable, and provide long-term help and opportunities for them through our interlinked projects to rebuild their lives. We work individually with people on their journey from despair to hope, from crisis to independence. You can donate by clicking the ‘Donate’ button above.

As an independent charity, Genesis Trust and Bath, Keynsham & Somer Valley Foodbank rely on financial support from people like you who care about homeless and vulnerable people in our community.

Everyone who walks through our doors is offered compassionate, flexible and holistic support through our interlinked projects to meet their immediate needs as well as journeying with them toward a better future.

Want to help with a care package?  

Each winter (and throughout the year), we love to be able to support our clients with these vital items.  We give toiletries, warm items of clothing and edible treats to our Genesis Life Project clients and people who are homeless.  

We would welcome donations of the items below for CARE PACKAGES: 

  • Rechargeable torches
  • Sleeping bags (3/4 seasons)
  • Roll mats
  • 1-2 Person Tents
  • New batteries, sizes AA and AAA
  • Men’s clothing like jeans or outdoor trousers
  • Outdoor/Waterproof clothing 
  • Thermos flasks
  • Mobile phones (factory reset)
  • Portable phone chargers
  • Tablets (factory reset)
  • Rucksacks 25 to 90 litre capacity
  • Travel mugs – non leaking
  • Thermal underwear
  • Pocket warmers/body warmers
  • Heated vests
  • Toiletries:
    • Shampoo and shower gel (standard size)
    • Tooth brushes and tooth paste
    • Razors and shaving cream
    • Lip balm, moisturising creams
    • Hair brushes, combs and hair bands.

Donations can be dropped off at our Gateway Centre on London Road in Bath. Please email office@genesistrust.org.uk to make an appointment. All deliveries are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY so we can make sure someone is in the building when you arrive. You can also call 01225 463549 to make an appointment.

Want to donate warm clothing?

We support many people who are sleeping rough and are vulnerably housed who do not have the resources necessary to keep themselves warm.

There are two ways you can donate winter clothing: 

Donate used winter clothes that are in good condition.
Please see the list below of things we need. If you have any of these items that you’d like to donate, please email office@genesistrust.org.uk to arrange an appointment to drop off the items at our Gateway Centre on London Road in Bath. We do not have much storage space so please limit donations to the list below.

  • Winter coats
  • Waterproof coats/trousers
  • Winter hats
  • Winter gloves
  • Scarfs
  • Warm socks
  • Men’s jeans (size 30-36)
  • Jumpers/Body warmers
  • Sleeping bags (4 seasons)
  • Blankets
  • Duvets
  • Sleeping bags (3-4 seasons
  • Winter footwear (not wellies)
    • Men size 7-10
    • Woman size 5-8

You can donate new winter items using our Give Today site. All purchases are made online and are delivered directly to our main office. Please click here to visit our Give Today site.

Want to give food?   

If you would like to donate food to Bath, Keynsham & Somer Valley Foodbank, please do this by buying in store and putting the items in one of the collection points. You can see the store locations HERE.

To drop off a collection at the Bath Warehouse, please do so on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm. The address is Unit 9, Brassmill Enterprise Centre, BA1 3JN (What3Words – monkey depend volunteered).

If you have a substantial donation, or are unable to drop it off, our volunteer van team can pick up your collection by arrangement.

When preparing donations to the Foodbank we ask please do not use plastic boxes or trays or single use plastic bags. We can, however, re-use cardboard boxes or bags-for-life.
