We are delighted to have our new CEO Susannah Jewell with us. She has a long history supporting Genesis including volunteering, a trustee role and fundraising for us. I’ve asked her a few questions so we all can get to know her a little more. 

Why were you interested in the CEO role? 

It is a basic human desire to feel valued, accepted and supported by others. Genesis Trust seeks to provide this to some of the most vulnerable in our society by supporting them to find community in this great city of ours and in the surrounding area. I’m so excited to support this work and develop it more and more.

You already have quite a history with Genesis Trust. What are some of the things you’ve done to support Genesis Trust and Foodbank? 

I began volunteering with Genesis in the office back in 2017.  I have also cycled from London to Bruges in 2019 to raise funds and in 2023 was persuaded to jump out of a perfectly good plane with a parachute attached!  I was also a trustee for a couple of years. 

What type of work have you done in the past? 

I have worked in the defence and rail sector for the past 20+ years, in procurement, transformation and project management leadership roles. 

What is your hope for the future of Genesis Trust? 

I would love to see Genesis Trust working in greater collaboration with the communities and churches across Bath and North East Somerset to expand its work and help the people we support to put down roots in their local community where they can feel valued, accepted and supported. 

What are your hobbies or what do you enjoy doing?  

I love to travel and learn about other cultures. My husband and I have had the privilege of visiting some incredible places, meeting some amazing people along the way. I also enjoy cycling, cooking, reading and sewing. This issue is usually finding enough time to fit it all in!
