Over the course of this year we have been busy developing our ambitious plans to provide a permanent home for Genesis Trust and a place from which to continue supporting hungry, homeless and vulnerable people in Bath as they move from crisis to independence.
Together with B&NES Council, we have been working hard to solve some technical challenges that have arisen with the proposed development at Walcot Street. Sadly, despite the amazing support received from the BANES council, our architects and lawyers, we have struggled to find a solution that ensures that we can move forward with this site.
There is good news however!
As you would expect we have been exploring other options, and as a result we are currently in the process of partnering with the Snow Hill Gateway Trust. This will mean that the Genesis Trust will gain a new and permanent home, currently known as the Gateway Centre, on London Road.
This property will enable us to expand our services supporting homeless and vulnerable people in the city and, by investing in the site, we will ensure that it is repurposed and saved for future generations and the wider Bath community. All current activities run by the Gateway Centre will continue and we anticipate moving in during the first half of 2019, initially with our Lifeline Centre and Life Skills training projects.
In other good news, we are delighted to tell you that we are currently developing plans for new social enterprises. These will enable us to support people in learning new skills and finding employment, as well as eventually creating a sustainable source of income for our activities. We will let you know more about these exciting plans soon!
Thank you to everyone who has supported us as, together, we offer new beginnings and better futures for all those in need in Bath and the surrounding areas.
