Some Facts and Figures

FP Ros & customer brochure webWe serve about 4300 individuals and families in and around Bath reaching out as far as Chippenham, Warminster, Oakhill and Brislington.

We are Not for Profit. After covering our running costs any surplus from sales is re-invested within Genesis Trust to help the vulnerable within our community

We have helped many people to find jobs by reintegrating them within a working environment, both in our retail warehouse as well as on the vans. Several of our staff started out with us as volunteers or on a work placement programme, and are now (or have been) fully employed by Genesis Trust.

This year we are on target to save some 100 tonnes of household goods from landfill.

We are one of the lowest priced charity outlets for furniture and household goods in the area.

We are currently staffed by 3 full-time employees who oversee the work of 15-20 volunteers and/or people on work placements.

How do we work?

Volunteer story

48 year old Ginge Ashton grew up in Bath. Having worked in catering and the building trade, his life took a down turn 16 years ago after a relationship break up. Since then, he’s suffered from depression and found it hard to hold down a job, he’s not had a home and has slept rough, squatted and camped out in the local area. He’s also stayed at Julian House. He’s used Genesis projects over the year, attending the soup run and Lifeline. He started a voluntary placement at the Furniture Project at the end of 2016 and works there 3 days a week. In the New Year, the got a new flat at a supported housing project and feels things are finally starting to look up ” this is the happiest I’ve ever felt. I think the Furniture project is great, it’s one of the few jobs I’ve had where I’ve woken up and looked forward to the day ahead”. Ginge is hoping to get his life back on track and to getting support to help apply for jobs. He’d like to get back into catering but in the meantime is glad to have a roof over his head whilst he regains his confidence.
