The Furniture Project

The Genesis Furniture Project has been established in Bath for over 20 years and continues to serve the local community by:

  • Providing good quality household goods at affordable prices to people on low income or benefits
  • Collecting donated second hand items and factory end-of-line new stock
  • Offering volunteering opportunities
  • Disposal service – we charge for this service and can dispose of unsaleable items on your behalf
  • Providing the longer term unemployed with work experience and development.

Facts and Figures

We serve individuals and families in and around Bath reaching out as far as Chippenham, Warminster, Oakhill and Brislington.

We are a not-for-profit project and after covering our running costs, any surplus income from sales is re-invested within Genesis Trust.

We have helped many people to find jobs by reintegrating them within a working environment, both in our retail warehouse as well as on the vans. Several of our previous and current staff members started out with us as volunteers or on a work placement programme.

We are one of the lowest priced charity outlets for furniture and household goods in the area.

How do we work?

If you are on a low income or benefits and need good quality household items, please visit us any time between 9.00-4.30 weekdays ( 4pm Fridays) and 10.00 – 1.00 on Saturdays. We are unable to do collections or deliveries at the weekend.

If you are in need of good quality household items but feel you cannot afford our prices then please talk to us as grants may be available.

Not only do we collect for free but we also deliver for free for purchases over £15.

Volunteer with us

We’re very keen for new people to join our friendly team either to get work experience or if they would like to give something back to the community. For our latest opportunities please click here.
