We had an amazing day on Sunday at the Bath Half! Thank you to all our runners who smashed the 13.1 miles. We are so grateful for their training though the long winter months and for their inspiring achievements on the day. It was perfect weather for running and despite the inevitable sore legs and feet afterwards everyone seemed pleased with their times and positive about the experience.

It is such a great community event too. Some of our runners are our volunteers and many are part of local churches. Others represented Bath based businesses such as Rotork, Rocketmakers and Howden Insurance. A family event, the atmosphere in the runners’ village in Victoria Park was upbeat and fun. Thank you to the supporters along the route cheering on the runners. It was much appreciated and motivational. One runner said after,

‘I would also let you know that whilst running around, a lot of people called out for Genesis Trust, which was really supportive to me but also for your charity. I guess it shows that the great work you’re doing is recognised by lots of people you might not know.’

For the third year running we had a wonderful group from Monkton School who volunteered in the Baggage Tent. A team of pupils, staff and parents took on the important job of taking in the runner’s bags, looking after them and returning the kit quickly at the end of the race. It is such a vital role for the smooth operation of the day, and we are grateful for their support again. Plus, we get a little bit of money from the race organisers for the volunteer team which helps towards our fundraising!

As we write the fundraising total from our 30 runners is just over £12,000 which is fantastic! Donations will hopefully continue to come in as people show their admiration for the runners and their achievements. You can still support them here.
