We are extremely pleased to be able to let you know that the building work at our Gateway Centre is progressing well, and so we thought you might like a quick update.

The new roof is completed and the scaffolding has been taken down. The new double-glazed windows and doors are being installed which, together, with the new roof, should improve the warmth of the building and hopefully reduce our heating costs.

Now that the scaffolding is down, work can progress on reconfiguring the London Road entrance to create accessible access at both entrances. The installation of a new commercial kitchen is nearly complete which will improve our ability to cater for our clients.

We are looking forward to relaunching our Life Connect meal offerings at the Gateway Centre where we provide an opportunity for homeless and vulnerable people to connect over a meal. Connecting like this helps clients overcome the impact of isolation and helps us connect relationally with people so that we can offer further support.

Work is also progressing on new accessible toilets and shower facilities. Our move to Genesis on the Canal showed us how important a good shower is to our clients. It’s crucial for someone experiencing homelessness – for their health, wellbeing and dignity.

We are really looking forward to returning to the Gateway Centre and the new improved space, hopefully early in the new year. We will be planning some ’new opening’ events for everyone once we’re up and running so do watch this space for updates.
