Bath’s newly elected Conservative MP , Ben Howlett, has donated his MP’s pay rise to 2 Bath charities – Genesis Trust and Child Action against Poverty. Like many MP’s he stated his opposition to the ten per cent pay rise at a time of austerity, so intstead of keeping the money he’s decided to give it away. In a letter to our Chair of Trustees, Peter Heywood he said:
“I have decided to forego this pay rise and donate it equally to two local charities in Bath, including the Genesis Trust. The Genesis Trust undertakes invaluable work in alleviating poverty amongst the most vulnerable in our community. Many people in Bath depend on the work of your organisation and I am delighted to be able to show my support and gratitude in this way. Thank you again for all the work you, your colleagues and all the volunteers do for Bath and I do hope this donation will go some way in helping your aims”.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Ben for this gesture and his on going support !
