We are so proud of Glenys Green and Gloria Ware , both of whom won Pride of Bath awards yesterday. 82 year old Glenys has been volunteering for 16 years at our Lunch Box project and Gloria has been running our Lifeline project for 11 years. Based in the vaults of Bath Abbey, it’s a daily drop in centre for homeless and vulnerable adults which often has 40 visitors a day. For the work she does there as manager, Gloria received the “Going the Extra Mile” award. Glenys won the Volunteer award at the ceremony. They are both inspiring, big hearted women and it’s great to see their commitment valued in this way. This is what the Pride of Bath is all about :
“We hear a lot about the big society these days, but our city has always been enhanced by people who think nothing of doing something for others. These awards are all about thanking them for what they do and giving them the credit they deserve. The categories recognise people who go above and beyond the call of duty, those who care for others and their communities and those who have been involved in remarkable acts of bravery”.
