Reaching Out to Those in Need
Welcome from Steve Hughes, Chaplain of Genesis Trust Bath
Genesis Trust is an organisation founded, based, and operating on Christian beliefs and principles which exists to demonstrate the love of God, through Jesus, to the poor and vulnerable.
We believe that the help that we offer to all who come to Genesis Trust should support the wellness of their body, mind and spirit. This is through compassionately meeting peoples’ needs when they are in crisis but also journeying with them from crisis to hope.
We offer hospitality and the chance to be part of a non-judgemental, loving community.
We find that many people are disconnected from themselves and from others and we aim to support and help them to be reconnected. Many people are seeking spiritual reconnection as well and so we offer the choice to ask questions and to explore faith.
To explore the Christian faith further, our regular Faith Group meets on a Wednesday at the Gateway Centre and we also run Hope Explored courses. These meetings give the opportunity to ask big questions and learn more about Jesus and the hope he brings in our lives.
We value the prayer support of individuals and all the churches in Bath. If you would like to receive our monthly prayer updates via email, then please get in touch with me – chaplain@genesistrust.org.uk
Our Vision
A thriving and supportive community in the Bath area where everyone has hope and a future.
Our Mission
At the heart of Genesis is Jesus and his call to love our neighbour. Our response is to support disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the Bath area, offering opportunities for them to make healthy choices and improve their lives and prospects.
What we do
As a Christian charity, Genesis works with local churches and volunteers in the wider community in Bath and the surrounding area to help disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals and families to change their lives.

How you can pray for us
December 2024
Hi,
I hope all is well. Thank you for your continuing prayer for Genesis. For December we would appreciate prayers this month as follows:
- We give thanks for how well everyone has settled into our new temporary home for Genesis Life Projects at Genesis on the Canal. Please pray for people to find their way to us and for the word to spread to others needing both crisis and ongoing support. Especially as the weather gets colder, we ask for God’s protection for people who are out in the elements. Those who are rough sleeping or living on boats and people struggling to heat their accommodation. We pray that people will seek help from Genesis Trust and the other charities and agencies in Bath.
- Please pray for the successful move of the Bath Foodbank warehouse from Oldfield Park to the Brassmill Enterprise Centre happening in the first two weeks of December. We give thanks for the volunteers and staff who are organising this move and managing all the complexities moving location brings. This is a busy time of year for the Foodbank, and we pray for stamina and good health for the whole team. We ask for blessings on all the families and individuals who need food support over December and that they are not overwhelmed by the stresses that the festive season can sometimes bring.
- On 5 December it is International Volunteers Day, and we give thanks to God for all our volunteers in all areas of Genesis Trust – our trustees, at Genesis Life Projects, Bath Foodbank, Genesis Furniture, the fundraising, and operations teams. We ask for health and wellbeing for all and a joyous and peaceful Christmas season. We give thanks for their compassion and kindness in dedicating their time to helping homeless and vulnerable people in our community.
- We pray for the people who will compete the Life Course on 5 December. They have journeyed with us and each other for the last couple of months and we hope and pray for sustained recovery and wellbeing for them all. We give thanks for our colleague Jill who has led the course and who has enabled people to find hope, reconnection, and a new beginning in their lives.
Thanks again for your ongoing commitment to pray for Genesis, it is really valued.
Many blessings,
Hilary
