Volunteer Opportunities with Genesis Trust Bath

At Genesis Trust Bath we have a number of volunteer roles based in a variety of locations across Bath, Keynsham and Somer Valley. New roles are sometimes created in response to the needs of our clients. Please scroll down to the bottom of the page the see our current volunteering needs. The main roles within our projects below. Genesis Life Projects (all roles based in Bath):

  • Lifeline volunteer – welcoming guests, making drinks, engaging with guests (talking, playing games), keeping place tidy/clearing cups etc.
  • Life Skills volunteer – helping deliver our life skill sessions
  • Life Connect volunteer – preparing and serving food, and connecting with our clients through conversation at our Life Connect meals.

Bath, Keynsham and Somer Valley Foodbank:

  • Warehouse volunteer – sorting products
  • Van driver/assistant – collecting donations from supermarkets etc and delivering to warehouse to be sorted; delivering products needed at distribution centres
  • Delivery drivers – delivering bags of food to clients who are house bound (own car needed)
  • Centre volunteers – meeting clients, packing food bags for clients, signposting to other support available if needed.

Fundraising and Office support:

  • Office volunteer – general admin
  • Ambassador – giving talks about Genesis/Foodbank in churches, schools & small groups
  • Adhoc fundrasing volunteer – help with manning stalls, challenge events, leaflet distribution or

Volunteering is one way to support our work but we offer other opportunities as well. For example, you could participate in one of our challenge events and fundraise for us, pray for us or donate essential items like furniture, clothing, toiletries and much more. Current Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Van driver for the Foodbank

What you will be doing

  • Driving our van to collect food donations
  • Collecting the food and putting it into crates
  • Weighing food that has been collected
  • Unloading food donations back at our warehouse

The skills you need

  • Ability to drive a small van
  • Physical strength to be able to lift and move crates of food
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Good communication skills when liaising with donors

Time and Role

We are currently a little short staffed for our Friday shift which runs from 09:30 to 13:00. The role is based in Haydon (near Radstock). The Friday team pick up donations from various locations and deliver an order to Peasedown St John. Any donations are weighed in, sorted (by product and date) and then stored.
