Thank you to our Volunteers!

June 1-7 is national Volunteer’s Week which is a special time to say thanks for the contribution of millions of volunteers around the UK.  The Genesis Trust depends on the support of amazing volunteers to fulfill our work of supporting the homeless and vulnerable people in the Bath area.

We would like to introduce you to John Acton who has supported the Genesis Trust in various ways for a number of years.

John has been volunteering for the Genesis Trust since March 2021.  He has generously helped organise donations like household goods, books and CDs so that they can be sold on eBay and other platforms like Ziffit, Music Magpie and We Buy Books.

He was initially introduced to the Genesis Trust in 2014 when he and his wife donated furniture, bedding and clothes.  In 2018 and 2020 he participated in the 50 Mile Bath Sportive cycling event raising funds and is where he met Hilary Long, our Community & Events Manager.  John called and asked how he could help and so Hilary suggested helping organise the sale of the donations.

I asked John what attracted him to the Genesis Trust and caused him to want to help?

John said, “The value of Genesis Trust is the effective supporting of those less well off than yourself.  It is the ability to make a difference locally in the Bath area.  The caring, the sharing, the supportive nature and the engagement of practical work to help teach people life skills and turn lives around in a real, practical setting.  It’s a charity that punches well above its weight.”

So all of us at the Genesis Trust would like to say a big thank you to John and all our volunteers who sacrificially give of their time, skills and effort to support our work and help others in need.
