Did you know that it’s Second-Hand September?  It is a month dedicated to highlight the importance of reusing, recycling and reducing waste.  Genesis Trust has many ways in which you can recycle and reuse goods and support homeless and vulnerable people in the process. Here are some great ways below.

  • The Genesis Trust Furniture Shop has been rebranded! We sell pre-loved, quality furniture ONLINE to raise funds for the charity as well as to support disadvantaged people with the furniture they need.  To do this, we accept donations from the community of quality furniture.  You can participate in the recycling of furniture by either shopping for furniture using our online shop or by donating quality furniture.  Click here to know more.

  • A great way to recycle clothes is via Thrift+. Here you can shop for and re-sell clothes. 73% of used clothes are sent to landfill or are incinerated. Thrift+ is putting an end to fashion waste by making it easier to re-sell than to discard. If you use our referral link on our website, Genesis Trust gets a 10% donation from your purchase.  You can also send your quality, unwanted clothes to Thrift + (free) and when your clothes sell Genesis Trust gets a donation.  Visit our website by clicking here and check it out!
  • You can even raise funds for Genesis Trust by recycling inkjet cartridges! When you recycle your old inkjet cartridges through Recycle4Charity it can raise funds for our work with vulnerable people and families in the Bath area.  You can print off your own postage label and send your used cartridges to them.  Alternatively, you can put the cartridges into our Recycle4Charity collection boxes that are at our West Avenue and Gateway Centre sites.  You can read more here.

These are just a few ways that we thought we’d highlight, but there are many other ways that you can reuse, recycle and reduce. Click here for other ways you can recycle.
