The London Marathon has been a huge event in our calendar for many years, and this year was no different. However, when we began recruiting for this marathon, we only had 6 months from the last one in October 2022 until this one. Despite this, we were very lucky to have 9 people express their interest in fundraising and running for us!

Here are a couple of quotes from two of our 2023 runners:

“Running the marathon for Genesis was an amazing experience. Although we started in wet and damp conditions the support and atmosphere from the thousands of spectators lining the streets warmed us all and was truly phenomenal. My target for the London marathon this year was twofold: first to run for the Genesis Trust, an inspiring charity supporting so many people in the Bath area and secondly to enjoy and soak up the unique atmosphere in London. Along with others running for Genesis both targets were accomplished and a great day was had by all.” – William Major

“It’s hard to summarise the ‘London experience’ …. I awoke thinking the forecast was wrong and we were going to avoid the showers, only for a heavy shower to arrive 10 mins before the start so we all stood shivering and slightly bedraggled on the start line. I think the London Marathon epitomises the best of humanity; 45,000 runners putting themselves outside their comfort zone to achieve an incredible personal feat and raise millions for worthy causes. The crowds were beyond amazing cheering and supporting you with genuine passion. It was fantastic to cross the line and I beat my previous marathon best by 15 minutes. I’m so grateful to all those who sponsored me and know the funds will be wisely used by the Genesis Trust to help those who need it” – Kathleen Pritchard

It’s the first year that all our runners have crossed the start line, (and the finish line) and not had to pull out as a result of injuries! We are so grateful to have had an enthusiastic bunch of runners who have been up for the challenge of running and fundraising in a short amount of time! Thank you to all of you!

There are plenty of opportunities coming up to run for Genesis Trust. The Bath Half is on 15th October 2023. This is a perfect event if you are looking for something more local and you’re up for a challenge (but not quite up for a full-length marathon). We have 14 spaces left so please fill out our ONLINE FORM if you are interested.

Alternatively, if you are looking to run the London Marathon on 21st April 2024, we would love to hear from you! Please either fill out our ONLINE FORM or email events@genesistrust.org.uk to be put on a waitlist.
