This Volunteers’ Week, as well as highlighting some of our regular volunteers, we would also like to celebrate the people who help us through their work.

Corporate volunteering is a practical way for companies and their staff to support a charity. At Genesis trust we love having this help! We are not able to have big groups, but we offer either a day, an afternoon or even just a few hours for up to four people at either the Furniture Shop warehouse, Bath Foodbank warehouse and at the Gateway Centre.

In April, we had two great days with teams from a recruitment company called SR2 Recruitment. They spent the days at our Furniture Shop warehouse where they worked hard, moving wardrobes, sorting chairs, making up beds, clearing space.

This probably doesn’t sound very exciting, but it was vital to help us maximise our limited space, so we can accept more pre-loved donated items, prepare them for sale and deliver them to their new homes! One of the teams called it ‘chair Jenga’ and whilst there was thankfully no crashing down of the furniture, they all had a lot of fun.

In March, we were running a series of Easter Crafts sessions at Genesis Life Projects and needed a couple of volunteers to help. We put a call out to Interaction Bath, a company that usually supports us at the Bath Foodbank warehouse but they happily provided two helpers for two of the sessions.

The volunteers did not need to be particularly crafty but were needed to support our facilitator and our guests with setting up, helping individuals with things they may be struggling with and clearing up. The sessions were creative, fun, and great for our guest’s wellbeing and having extra pairs of hands made all the difference.

At Bath Foodbank, teams can occasionally help on a Thursday afternoon at the warehouse. We have wonderful regular volunteers who usually sort the food donations but at busy times especially between Harvest and Christmas there is always more sorting that needs to be done!

Recently teams from Coventry Building Society have been helping as the Foodbank is the Bath branch’s Community Partner. Along with volunteering, the staff have collected both food donations and new books for our Book Bank. There is a donations collection point in the Branch on Wood Street. We are very grateful too for the funds that have also been donated by Coventry Building Society.

If you are interested in a charity partnership and/or volunteering with your colleagues, then please get in touch.

Alternatively, we offer some great team fundraising activities. Please look at our Challenge Events page by clicking HERE. Maybe a skydive is just the corporate team-building event you are looking for! Or something more sedentary like entering a team in our Genesis Summer Quiz on 23 June.
