“Pleased to support your valuable work supporting those most in need in Bath”

~ loyal supporter of Genesis Trust

Many of you will have recently contributed to our Gift Appeal or our Christmas Appeal, which ran over the last few winter months. To begin with, we were unsure what the response would be, due to the financially difficult times the country faces. But contrary to these concerns, we are pleased to share with you all that both appeals have been the most successful appeals we’ve ever run!

Christmas at Genesis Trust has been a truly blessed one. We’ve received so much support for our two appeals, as well as generous donations of food, festive treats and care package items. Vital to the success of Christmas are our wonderful volunteers, both regular and the corporate teams who helped us through the busiest time of year. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed, for your loyalty and commitment to the work we are delivering with vulnerable people in and around Bath.

In October we kicked off the Gift Appeal, which was used to buy toy vouchers from The Entertainer for Bath Foodbank parents and blankets for our guests at Genesis Life Projects. We had a great response from supporters, churches and from the Rotary Club of Bath, who generously granted £1000 to the appeal.

Because of the generosity of all who gave, we bought and distributed 260 toy vouchers through our three Foodbank centres, meaning parents could buy a special gift for their children, despite the difficult times their family was facing.

The Gift Appeal was also able to provide for our Genesis Trust guests. At the Christmas meal we held for the community of guests we support at our Gateway Centre, we gave a soft sherpa fleece throw blanket to each person as a Christmas gift, which were so gratefully received.

Then in November, we launched our Christmas Appeal, offering choice and hope to vulnerable people who feel they have none. Both before and after Christmas we received so many generous donations with some really encouraging messages alongside them. We have raised more money this year than in any other, which is amazing and a real testament to the work we are doing in the city. As a team we are so thankful to have such committed supporters who have faith in what we are doing to care for Bath’s most vulnerable people.

Nick, our CEO said, I am hugely grateful to all the people who have trusted us with their money. We will honour them.’

As you read this, our team is busy planning a full programme of support for vulnerable people in our city over the year ahead. Thank you for providing the means by which our vital work can continue and for enabling vulnerable people to journey toward a better future.
