Jumping out of a plane and falling through the air at 120 mph is, for many who’ve experienced it, the best feeling you could ever have. Genesis is giving you the chance to find out for yourself!
On Saturday 2 May a specially organised skydiving event is happening in aid of Genesis Trust, and a plane full of thrill-seekers will be treated to 30 seconds of free falling, with spectacular views of the Wiltshire countryside around the historic landmark of Old Sarum. Each participant will jump in tandem with an experienced instructor from GoSkydive, from an altitude of 10,000 feet (just short of 2 miles).
For Amy Fallaize, in charge of Genesis Office administration, it’s the chance of a lifetime.
“Skydiving is on my bucket list, so I’m keen to grab the opportunity. I’m already running the Bath Half in aid of Genesis, and I love the idea of a different and more extreme challenge.”
Amy would admit to a few nerves as a first-timer, but for Genesis Community and Events Manager Hilary Long, this will be her 140th skydive.
Hilary’s first encounter with skydiving came as a teenager, and she was hooked. This time, however, will be Hilary’s first dive for 30 years, and she’s excited to be able to do it again.
“Skydiving is like nothing on earth. I love the thrill of the freefall followed by the calm descent where you have time to appreciate the beautiful countryside around you.”
If you’d to take the challenge, book here. It costs £50 to secure your place, and you will need to raise at least £395 in sponsorship. Alternatively, you can cover the cost of the jump yourself (£175 plus the £50 booking fee), fundraising a minimum of £170.
