What an amazing bunch our supporters and volunteers are! You have run, walked and cycled thousands of miles, baked hundreds of cakes, sang, performed opera and even danced the samba to raise money for us. Hundreds of donors have given regularly or occasionally but always generously. Without this financial support we simply could not help 4,000 people in the Bath and surrounding areas who are homeless, disadvantaged, vulnerable, living in poverty or threatened with eviction. This snapshot of our annual report shows how your precious donations have been spent.
Volunteers have passed on a huge array of skills from computing and cooking to poetry and money management. They have welcomed visitors, collected and distributed food and furniture, served meals, sorted out clothes and probably most importantly chosen to come alongside your fellow citizens to help them through tough times. Genesis Trust would simply not exist without our team of over 700 local people.
We are particularly thrilled and humbled by the response across the city to our Walcot Street Appeal this year. Church families came together to build ‘Walls of Hope’ where everyone gave what they could, individuals, businesses and charitable trusts stepped up to provide major financial and practical help. The first stage of the appeal will soon be completed and we are planning to start building works on the new Genesis Centre in 2018.
So please take a moment if you can to look at the difference your support is making, as we help people through crisis situations and enable them to start to turn their life around. We are always open to feedback and suggestions, so feel free to contact us with your thoughts and reflections. Together, we can achieve our vision of a city where everyone has hope and a future.
Thank you. We really could not do any of it without you.
