Genesis Trust is pleased to announce that Triss Horwood has been appointed as Chair of Trustees.
Triss takes over from Ian McKay, who has held the post on a temporary basis since taking over last year from long-term Chair and Founder of Genesis, Peter Heywood.
Ian has been a Trustee of Genesis for 19 years, during which time he has supported the growth of the charity in many key ways. He steps down as a Trustee in September 2022.
Said Peter Heywood “In the Genesis Trust we focus on supporting people in the Bath area who are marginalised or vulnerable, helping them to have new beginnings that lead to better futures. In doing this, we rely on the guidance of a dedicated group of Trustees, who help to steer the charity forward and make sure that it is professionally managed towards agreed objectives. I have been very pleased to work alongside Ian McKay during his time as Trustee and then Vice Chair, and then as interim Chair for the last 12 months, and his knowledge and experience has always been invaluable.
I am now delighted that Triss has become our new Chair. She has a deep commitment to the mission of Genesis, and brings essential skills to the role, based on her years working in the NHS, in private consultancy, and in church mission and training. I know that you will join me in welcoming her to this key position in the charity.”
Peter remains a Trustee of the charity.
Triss commented: “I feel honoured to have been asked to help Genesis on the next part of its journey and am very thankful to Peter and Ian for all they have done. I would like to honour Peter for his wisdom and understanding, for being such an inspiration, and I know that his ongoing contribution and commitment to Genesis will be very much valued. I see Genesis, in addition to delivering its own services, ideally placed to offer support to others such as churches, ministries and individuals in delivering the right help and support to their communities, especially the vulnerable and marginalised.”
Nick Mayo, CEO of Genesis Trust stated: “The team and I want to honour Peter for everything he stands for and has inspired over the years, to thank Ian for being interim Chair, and are very excited that Triss is our new Chair of Trustees. She brings a wealth of experience and, perhaps even more importantly, a great passion for Genesis and the people we serve to fulfil their potential – to truly experience New Beginnings and Better Futures.”
