At Genesis Trust we are in the privileged position of being supported by many wonderful people in our community. These people are who enable us to journey alongside others in that same community who are working through issues such as homelessness, mental ill-health or addiction.
We are blessed to have over 150 volunteers and more than 2000 people reading our newsletters. Over 100 people supported us this year with sponsored events like Bath Half and our recent Abseil, Leap of Faith. And hundreds more support our appeals and give faithfully through regular gifts.
Over the summer months one of our regular givers who had sadly died left us another kind of gift, one we weren’t expecting but that brought great joy – a gift left in her Will.
After providing for her friends and family, this regular giver left several of her favourite charities a generous gift in her Will. Whilst she was alive she kindly gave £20 per month to us for many years, which has made a big difference to our work with homeless and vulnerable people. But it is her Gift in Wills donation that will have the biggest impact.
Her gift is enough to help fund a Genesis Life Projects staff member’s salary, enabling them to support those needing our care. This funding means staff can build relationships with individuals as they journey from crisis to independence, a journey which does not happen quickly. Having the security that Gift in Wills can bring means we can be confident as we start the next relationship and sit down to our next one-to-one.
We are so very grateful to this supporter and the many others who have left gifts in their Wills. Together they are enabling homeless and vulnerable people in our community to journey from despair to hope.
