Our staff and volunteers at Lifeline Centre in Bath Abbey were delighted to welcome the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby this week as part of his 3 day visit to the West Country. As part of his visit to the city he addressed a Bath Christian Action conference at the Guildhall, visited the Roman Baths and led a service at Bath Abbey. He popped into Lifeline to meet manager Gloria Ware and her team and to see at first hand what goes on there. The drop in centre, which helps homeless and vulnerable people, is open on weekday afternoons. Visitors can get hot drinks and support is on offer from a committed team of volunteers, some of them ex rough sleepers. Clean clothes and bedding are available as well as cooking utensils for those sleeping out in Bath. The centre will be moving premises soon and we have applied to the Aviva Community fund for a grant of £5,000 to install a shower and washing machine in the new premises.
