On Saturday 13th July, a team of Genesis Life Skills participants joined the Bath Carnival Procession.
The event was a culmination of weeks of work decorating bikes and costumes – carnival style!
Life Skills joined forces with inclusive cycling charity Wheels for All, as well as Action on Hearing Loss. The collaboration meant a big group of 20 people, ensuring a colourful spectacle.
Each year Bath Carnival is transformed with a new theme, inspiring fresh costume designs, dance choreographies and musical compositions while ensuring the creative workshops are forever evolving and carnival procession constantly progressing.
The theme for 2019 was ‘Express Yourself’. As well decorating the bikes and costumes, our Life Skills participants took part in performance workshops – learning how to perform in a crowd-lined street.
The Carnival Procession consisted of a slow 2 hour amble around the streets of central Bath, starting at Great Pulteney Street, taking in the Abbey, the Guildhall and Milsom Street before looping back round to the start.
“It was so much fun to be part of the parade! I didn’t know about the Bath Carnival before but taking part makes me connected to the city and the wider community” – Life Skills participant.
We would like to thank Bath Carnival, Action on Hearing Loss, and Wheels for All for partnering with us this year.
