We are getting into the swing of the new year and would like to let our supporters know about upcoming events in 2022. We are so grateful to our supporters who choose to fundraise for Genesis Trust by setting themselves a personal challenge or getting involved with organised events.
A special thanks to Valerie who, after finding out our abseiling events had been cancelled because of the pandemic, chose to take on the Frostbite Challenge.
“It all started in lockdown 1, having dabbled in a bit of wild swimming previously. The weather was so amazing and I was missing my usual swimming regime so I dug out my shorty wetsuit and got in the river on Easter Saturday and the rest, as they say, is history.”
“I kept swimming through till late September till it felt too cold and I was aware of dangers of wild swimming. By October I was missing it and investigated winter swimming and with a bit of googling I discovered Wiltshire Wild Swimmers and the Frostbite Challenge.”
The Frostbite Challenge is a winter swimming challenge of twelve swims between November and February. Following her success last year, Valerie has decided to take on the challenge again this year, but this time she is doubling the challenge to raise money for Genesis Trust and Young Lives Vs Cancer.
“The other day when I said to a fellow swimmer ‘my friends all think I’m mad’, she responded with ‘no we are life affirmers’. And I thought YES. This is so life affirming and that’s what Genesis does too. They are life affirming to people.”

We want to make sure our events are inclusive to all our supporters. This year, we are launching our own very first Feb:Fun:50 event! There is still time to join in! We are asking our supporters to join us in their wellies, trainers or wetsuits and run, walk, cycle or swim 50 miles in February! We understand that February is a short month, so the official closing date for the challenge is 6th March. Each participant will receive a free t-shirt.

- Battle of Lansdown (Youth Race option). Ages 9-16. Anyone under the age of 13 will need to be accompanied by an Adult (1 adult to up to 4 children) – Sunday, 16th October
