What a fantastic day! The Leap of Faith! 2023 on Saturday 11 March saw people from across the city and across seven decades from 12 to 82 years of age taking up the challenge to abseil down the iconic Bath Abbey tower.
It was very cold at the top of the tower, rainy with sleet and snow later in the day too. But despite this the 54 brave souls who faced their fears were amazing!
We would like to say thank you to all who took part. Whether it was as a solo activity or part of a team. We welcomed groups from King Edwards School and The Paragon School and from Bath Abbey, Holy Trinity Combe Down and St Barnabas Church, Southdown. There were even two abseilers doing this for their birthdays! One man knew he was fundraising for something exciting for his birthday but didn’t know that it was abseiling from the 150m tower until we told him on arrival at the Abbey.
So far, this wonderful collection of intrepid people has raised over £15,000 for Bath Abbey and Genesis Trust and this will increase as further sponsorship monies are paid. We are so grateful, as it is not only doing the abseil that takes courage, it is the fundraising that can take us out of our comfort zone too.
All in all, a day to remember. Thank you again to all the abseilers and their supporters for joining us for the Leap of Faith! You can watch our short abseil video HERE.
